Learn to Win provides information on the average time to complete lessons and quizzes in our analytics pages.
We also provide information on how much time an individual is spending on the platform completing content in the Leaderboard.
How can this information best be used?
This tool is used typically to get an average of the time taken to complete a course, whether that course be a single lesson or quiz, or a combination of multiple lessons and quizzes.
Measuring Offline Vs. Online Training Time
You can use the average time and time spent columns to measure the efficiency of online training compared to in person training.
Note: It is important to compare things that are comparable
Comparing an in person training on a PPT to the time it takes to complete that same course on Learn to Win is a good way to measure the efficiency of online versus offline training.
Measuring Improvement from Pre to Post Training
Many organizations like to provide a pre-assessment to learners to get a baseline of knowledge before providing training lessons. The same assessment is provided as a post-assessment to gauge the improvement based on score.
We can also gauge improvement based on average time taken to complete a pre-assessment versus a post-assessment.
This information can provide a sense of how confident learners were based on their speed and accuracy of answers.
Determining Outliers
Average time spent is a helpful benchmark tool to help understand what the norm is within the bounds of reasonable time people are spending on content.
We can use these data points to help determine outliers, in the Time Spent column, based on the average.
Outliers can be:
- individuals who complete content in significantly less time than the average
- individuals who complete content in significantly more time than the average
Once outliers have been determined, this information can be used to set up meetings to go over why there may have been a disparity from the average or to simply check additional analytics for those individuals to see if they are in outlier in any other area beyond time spent.
If there are additional disparities for an individual in addition to their time spent, this is a good indication that they may need remediation.
Using Average Time as an Expectation
For evergreen content, content that is pre-determined and fixed, it can be an important piece of information to learners on how long the content should take.
Providing this information upfront can allow learners to set aside an appropriate amount of time to complete content in a focused manner, giving learners the chance to calibrate and make sound judgements.
It is a helpful barometer for learners and sets quality expectations.
Completing Training on the Clock
If learners are completing training on the clock, the Time Spent column may be an important piece of information when determining how long was actually spent completing training.
This information is used for payment purposes to reimburse a learner for their time spent training.
Note: The time spent column tracks time only within a lesson or quiz. This does include time that a learner may sit idle while inside a lesson or quiz.
